Metacam Oral Suspension is for use in the alleviation of inflammation and pain in both acute and chronic musculo-skeletal disorders in dogs.

A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug, Metacam is prescribed to reduce pain and inflammation, and is most commonly used to treat arthritis, injuries or painful tumours.

Metacam is a pleasantly flavoured liquid and can be added to food where most dogs will take it quite happily. A special syringe is provided to help measure out the correct dose.

Each ml Contains:
Meloxicam 1.5mg, Sodium Benzoate 1.5mg

Metacam has help my senior dog who is 13 1/2. He has arthritis in both back knees. This has reduced his pain and inflammation so he’s now able to even manage the stairs now.

The go-to vet's answer to pretty much all minor-to-moderate animal aches and pains. It's also a human medication, in the same group as ibuprofen (Nurofen), i.e. NSAIDs, and with much the same strength and efficacy. It's excellent for joint pain/inflammation, and the price when bought in bulk at VetUK is well over 10 times (!) cheaper than buying direct from the average vet's surgery. It's a palatable medicine (it has low smell and tastes fairly sweet and not too chemical-ly, so dogs don't object to it much). Our dog has learned that it relieves his chronic back/leg pain (due to falling heavily when jumping on a bed - he's a chunky Staffie and quite weighty) - so much so that he wags his tail when the box comes out and even laps up the liquid from the syringe enthusiastically. I find that diluting the Metacam (quite thick and sticky) with 5 ml or so of water and shaking the syringe to mix it up makes it much easier for my dog to 'drink', as it were, and also seems to make it absorb faster, so my dog gets quick relief from pain and it's also easier for him to swallow.

Metacam is such a great product to help with pain and inflammation. It works wonders for our dogs here at the rescue and we have used it for years now. We are glad to have come across this site as it works out much better economically and delivery is speedy too.

I put my lab into kennels for a week and they forgot to give him his daily Metacam. He was in a lot of pain and could hardly get up. After three days of getting his medication again he is mobile and back to his happy self...

I have been using vet uk for sometime now and they have always been quick with delivery. My dog was on Loxicom but as they are having trouble getting this I have got the vet to change to metacam.I hope this works better for her.

Our dog, Cassie, was on the brink of being put down. She had stopped eating and drinking and was very sore with arthritis. We had decided that it was no good. However, a friend suggested we try Metacalm and, to cut a long story short, she is bouncy and loving her half hour walks despite having got to the stage of only going to the end of the road and back.
