Royal Canin Urinary Feline High Dilution UHD34 is used in the dissolution of struvite uroliths in the management of calcium oxalate urolithiasis. In cases of recurrent idiopathic cystitis, feeding urinary pouches is recommended.

This diet is not recommended in cases of: pregnancy, lactation, growth, chronic renal failure, metabolic acidosis, heart failure, hypertension, use of urine-acidifying drugs.

Diluting the urine decreases the urinary concentration of struvite and calcium oxalate. The larger urinary volume also ensures regular bladder wash-out. Under saturated urine is an environment where crystals cannot proliferate. Thus the urine is unfavourable to the development of struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.
