VetUK is a registered Veterinary Practice premises (Reg. No. 6588469) with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). As a registered Veterinary Practice we supply genuine veterinary medicines, which are exactly the same as the ones you can buy from your vet. We are not listed on the RCVS 'Find Vet Practice' search facility as we are not a practice where people can bring their pets. If you wish to verify our registration you can call the RCVS on 020 7202 0707. For more information about the RCVS see below.

VetUK holds a further registration (Reg. No. 2028468) with the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) who are responsible for the regulation of Veterinary Medicines. The VMD ensures our standards meet those expected of a Veterinary Practice in relation to all Veterinary Medicinal products. We ensure these standards are maintained to the highest level so that genuine medicines are accurately dispensed and sold to all our customers to meet their needs. We are not part of the VMD Accredited Internet Retailers Scheme as our Veterinary Practice registration ensures we operate to the same high standards required of all Veterinary Practices in the UK. For more information on the VMD see below.

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) was established in 1844 by Royal Charter to be the governing body of the veterinary profession with their aim being to safeguard the health and welfare of animals under veterinary care, protect the interests of those dependent on animals and assure public health.

The RCVS is responsible for registering of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses who practice in the UK, and to regulate their educational ethical and clinical standards. Statutory and Charter duties are steered and governed by a Council of 42 members that meet 3 times per year.

Veterinary Medicines Directorate

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is an Executive Agency of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and is therefore part of the Civil Service.

The vision of the VMD is the responsible, safe, effective use of veterinary medicinal products. In working towards achieving this vision the VMD aims to protect public health, animal health and the environment and promote animal welfare by assuring the safety, quality and efficacy of veterinary medicines.

These medicines benefit animal health and welfare and public health by preventing and treating disease in farm animals, horses and pet animals, even medicines for honey bees are included in their remit.

The VMD are responsible for inspecting all veterinary practice premises in the UK from where veterinary surgeons retail veterinary medicinal products. This also includes the approval and inspection of Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs), who are involved in animal health care and have undertaken appropriate training and examination in veterinary medicines and are registered with a body recognised by the VMD.
