Drontal Wormers

Drontal, Drontal worming tablets for Cats and Dogs are still the only wormer to protect against every type of intestinal worm normally found in cats and dogs in the U.K. Drontal Plus for Dog are flavoured whilst the larger Drontal Plus XL are not, though these are more economical for larger dogs. Drontal for Cat tablets dose up to 4Kg bodyweight so if you have a larger cat use Drontal for Cats XL. For puppies who require a liquid wormer or are too small for tablets use Drontal Puppy Suspension.

Preventing your cat or dog from having worms is very difficult, however, there is one thing you can do to reduce the risk substantially, worm regularly with Drontal Cat or Drontal Plus Dog preferably every three months. Drontal kills all normal UK worms before they cause health problems and limits the spread of worm eggs in the environment. Don't forget this can also been done by scooping your pets poop.

Drontal Plus, now beef flavoured, has been the UK's number one wormer for many years. Drontal works as a single dose being given with or without food. For larger dogs Drontal Plus XL should be used, one tablet can worm a 35 kg dog so no need to give multiple Drontal Plus tablets. Unweaned puppies are hardly ever infected with tapeworms, but they are particularly at risk from roundworms, transmitted both via their mother's milk and from other pups in the litter. Drontal Oral Suspension for Puppies is a highly palatable, easily administered liquid and should be used every fortnight, up to 12 weeks of age.

Drontal Cat tablets and Drontal Cat XL tablets kill every type of intestinal worm your cat is ever likely to get and both will do so with a single dose without having to starve your cat first. The difference is that the Drontal Cat Tablets are for cats weighing 6kg and under, while Drontal Cat XL Tablets are specially formulated for cats that weigh 6kg and over.

To avoid worms reaching maturity and affecting your pet's health, and to reduce public health risks, you should worm your pet regularly. Worming at least every three months with Drontal will reduce this risk, but ask your vet who will be able to evaluate your pet's health and your family's requirements and advise you on a specific worming routine for your pet. Don't forget the flea control! Fleas are often infected with the larvae of the Flea Tapeworm, which can be transferred to your cat by swallowing the flea while grooming. So in order to control worms, you also need to control fleas. A spot-on treatment is the easiest way to protect your cat – but you may also need one that kills flea larvae in your pet's surroundings, to effectively break the flea lifecycle. If you don't control a flea problem at the same time as worming, your cat is almost certain to be re-infected.
