Ipakitine is a dietetic feeding stuff to help support kidney function in cases of chronic renal (kidney) insufficiency in cats and dogs.
In case of chronic kidney insufficiency, it is recommended to limit phosphorus intake from food and to test serum phosphorus levels regularly. The ingredients in Ipakitine act as phosphate binding agents and lower the absorption of phosphates from the intestines.
Kidney supplements are often given to cats to reduce the phosphate levels in the blood. These can be bought in powder form such as Ipakitine, liquid form such as Kaminox or in a pump dispenser Enisyl and Renalzin. Aim to supplement daily for maximum benefit.
