I was amazed to discover there's such a thing as clumping wood-based litter. It's the best of both worlds really! It's absorbs odours really nicely and I can't ever smell urine in the house. It's easy to keep the tray clean just by removing the clumps and solid bits, and if that is done regularly, a full tray will last a lot longer than when using regular, non-clumping wood based litter. The only problem is that because it's so light, the cats track a lot of it when leaving the box.

I have been using this litter since 2005 after seeing it from a cat show and it's one of the best (both quality and price) litter on the market. It clumps really well, liquid never reach the bottom of the tray (as long as you have a few inches thick of litter). They are flushable which I love, just make sure you flush a little at a time so it won't block you loo. There is no wastage neither, I transfer the litter to another tray when I clean it and simply top the tray up with fresh one.
